Artist and photographer who covers various areas of the country's cultural life. Her approach is mainly aimed at social situations in the public sphere, however Venegas seeks intimate moments within these moments in which the people portrayed are not prepared or paying attention, resulting in images that show a different perspective to our Mexican reality.

She graduated from the International Center of Photography in New York and earned a Master of Visual Arts from the University of California San Diego. She has exhibited her work individually and collectively in the US, Mexico, Brazil, Spain, France, Canada, Japan, Poland and Russia, in the Embarrassment of Riches exhibition at the Nerman Museum, Kansas, Online Biennial of Contemporary Art, Mexican Photography at the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art and Fotonovela: Society / Classes / Photography at Itaú Cultural, Sao Paulo, Brazil. Individually at the Shoshana Wayne Gallery in Santa Monica, Díaz Contemporary in Toronto, Casa de América Madrid, Carrillo Gil Art Museum in Mexico City and the Baxter gallery in New York. Her work is part of the collection of the Televisa Foundation, the Image Center in Mexico, as well as the Museum of Modern Art in San Francisco (SFMOMA), the Museum of Contemporary Art in San Diego and private collections such as Anna Gamazo de Abelló, Jason Raitman, Haudenschild, Moises Cosio, among others. Her work was awarded at the X Biennial of Photography of the Image Center in 2002, Conaculta, she won the 2010 Magnum Expression Award by the prestigious agency Magnum Photos, she was the Creditor of the FONCA 2011-2013 National System of Creators scholarship for His Gestus project that was recently published by Editorial RM with the support of the Fundación Bancomer 2015 grant.

She is currently a member of the National System of Art Creators and obtained the Guggenheim Fellowship for the realization of her San Pedro Garza García project. She has published two other monographs of her work María Elvia de Hank, Inédito, both by the publishing house RM and the catalog of her exhibition She will never be younger than today, was produced by INBA.

He currently lives and works in Mexico City.
