MANUEL MATHAR

Mérida, Yucatán,1973.

He has presented twelve individual exhibitions and participated in more than 200 group exhibitions in the most important museums in the country. He has also exhibited in countries such as France, the United States, Belgium, Honduras, Australia and Argentina. He has been a fellow of Young Creators in two issues and has been a member of the National System of Art Creators of the National Fund for Culture and the Arts. His work belongs to various public and private collections, including the Collection of the University Museum of Contemporary Art (MUAC), Museum of Contemporary Art of Saint-Etienne in France, Regional Museum of the City of Querétaro, Museum of Contemporary Art of Oaxaca, Museum Pedro Coronel, Carrillo Gil Art Museum and the Nuevo León Art Gallery. In 2002 he won the acquisition award of the Fifth Biennial of Young Art, in Monterrey Mexico, in 2008 he was the winner of the Tamayo Biennial award and in 2010 he won the Prize of the First Latin American Painting Contest Arcos Dorados in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Since 1997 he has been a member of the Los Lichis collective, an experimental music and video group, who have participated in individual and group exhibitions and in presentations in different countries such as Mexico, France, the United States and Colombia. He currently resides in the city of Mérida.
